Update. We had a meeting with the sector D reps last Monday evening, to ensure that all were clear about the involvement of Simply Networking in the communal projects. Our role is to obtain financial assistance from local businesses to ensure that the roundabouts are cleaned and maintained at minimal cost to the residents .We are doing this after several months of discussions with the authorities involved to ensure that it is done with their full agreement, and that the roundabouts continue to be maintained on an ongoing basis. Where voluntary residents are willing to undertake the maintenance, our involvement will be to find a company willing to pay for the materials required to bring the roundabout to a visually pleasing level, and facilitate the supply of these materials. In cases where the roundabouts are in a commercial area with minimal resident support, we will contract a legitimate garden maintenance contractor to bring the roundabout up to scratch and maintain it on an ongoing basis. This will ensure that Camposol becomes a greener area for both residents and businesses alike. Our other involvement is to work with local businesses to ensure that the basic needs of the people of Camposol are met, in a fashion that is beneficial to all. Several businesses have expressed a willingness to assist in the provision of these facilities, and we will continue to work with the authorities and associations as a facilitator for this process. Whilst we are seeking a small area which we can landscape as a gardening club project, we have no intention of trying to become involved in individual projects , as it is clear that due to the sheer number of different projects, and the desire of some residents to do things independently, that we could be letting ourselves in for a lot more than we bargained for, were we to try and interfere. Through the website, we can provide a means for residents to see the plans presented by each sector rep, showing what the individual sectors need in the way of support, and we are happy to assist with the bulk purchasing of basic materials to help the residents get more for their money. We also have good relationships with several local growers and garden centres and agricultural suppliers, through our business support group, which enables us to obtain discounted and sometimes free , materials, which we will pass on to the sector reps should they require them for their sector projects.
Rainbow satellites have agreed to sponsor the roundabout linking Violeta with Piteras, bordering on D22/D23/D26/D27. We are currently preparing quotations for the cost of signage and are meeting with the supplier of the black cubresuelos on Monday, as well as a potential source of secondhand material. On Monday we should have an answer from a supplier who may give a better price for the gravel, so will keep you all posted. The company who have offered to donate plants for the triangular areas on D are coming down on Monday to estimate the number of plants required and are also discussing the possible trialling of a slow release feed for the plants on these sites. They are considering sponsoring a second area as a second test. ( More free plants we hope.) We will keep you posted. Whilst it may appear that not a lot is happening at the moment, we want to reassure gardening club members, and members of the camposol D volunteers, that we are working hard to negotiate base prices for materials and obtain ongoing discounts for our members, as well as preparing the background essentials ready to bring in the materials and get going on the projects. Remember, prior preparation prevents p…. poor performance!!!!!!!
