Recycling, Rubbish and unwanted Furniture collection Services.
Due to the high summer temperatures, public refuse is collected on a daily basis and residents are requested to tie their refuse up into bags to avoid the odours of rotting food waste. It is actually illegal to put refuse into the rubbish bins before 9.30 at night and carries a hefty fine.A huge amount of the rubbish we throw away is actually recyclable, and residents are asked to put these materials into the correct containers. Glass bottles and jars go into the green receptacles. Newspapers, magazines, flattened cardboard and any other scraps of paper go into the yellow bin. Plastics, including water and pop bottles,( please flatten if possible) milk and fruit juice cartons, detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, tins, plastic wrappers and packaging go into the blue containers. Green garden waste goes into dedicated green waste containers for composting. Efforts are being made to introduce more into the area. There are dedicated orange bins in some supermarkets to collect waste cooking oil. Clothes and shoes can be deposited in silver bins with dark blue lids on, which are dotted around in more populated areas.
