Hello
This week we catch our breath before the next batch of fiestas, enjoy the
peace while you can as August is all about sleeping through the afternoon to take advantage of those glorious summer
evenings.

This weekend is the last of
the fabulous San Javier Jazz
Festival, or you could enjoy choral music in
the moonlight by Cabo de Palos lighthouse, fantastic free pop with the 40 Principales team, see
the Beatles or U2
tributes on the beachfront in Mazarron, or maybe a spot of Flamenco in Sucina. Residents in the north have
fiestas in Calasparra to enjoy, or perhaps
they’d prefer a night-time guided tour of Caravaca de la
Cruz, whilst those lucky residents of Aguilas have the glorious gravel voice of Antonio Orozco to look
forward to on Saturday night.

It’s always a real pleasure to see local ex-pats taking part in community activities and
projects, and this week we feature two artists who are holding an exhibition in the Mazarron
Casas Consistoriales. Matt Jones is
particularly well known as half of Rainbow satellites, and joins with Patrick Durrant for a joint
exhibition. If you get the chance, go along
and support them and enjoy the fruits of their
labours.

It’s too hot to run around too much, so why not take a trip to the beach. Now that the tourists are
here the summer watersports centres swing into
action and the diving schools are busy with refresher courses and try dives as we all
head for the water to cool
down.

|
|
|
Finally, the news. It’s been hot outside, but equally heated in the news
as the Catalan Parliament votes to ban
bullfighting, Air Berlin threatens to stop international
flights to San Javier and Polaris World finds
itself back in hot water as the courts order it to repay a deposit to
a disgruntled purchaser.
