Forged banknote alert
We have had 2 emails this morning warning that there are a number of fake 50 euro notes in circulation at the moment.
One of our emails came from the Chairman of the Camposol Fiesta Association who have just lost 50 euros as one of the notes paid into their account for fundraising tickets was proved to be a fake by the bank. The bank said they have had 3 paid in within the last week alone.
50 euros is a lot to lose when you're a charity struggling to raise money for the community, so please pass this information to your friends and help to make sure that the next victim isn't someone struggling to survive on a devalued pension.
How to check if a 50 euro note is a fake.
Looking at the note on the 'front' there are 3 grey stars centre top of note just left of the large 50 number. The star immediately left of the 50 has a vertical 'blade' shaped emblem running down the right of it coloured a browny/orangey colour. If you gently scrape your thumb nail over this emblem you will feel small ridges on a real note, if you do not feel the ridges and this part of the notes pattern is smooth, it is probably a fake so DO NOT TAKE IT!
If in doubt, go to a bank with the note before accepting it.
Please pass this warning onto your friends .
Many thanks to those who took the trouble to email a warning. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
