Cabo de Palos , funds approved to repair collapsing promenade
Murcian regional news, structural damage at Cabo de Palos to be fixed
{image1}MARM, the environmental Ministry, have agreed to pay 416,000 euros to carry out emergency repairs to the promenade and seafront area at Cabo de Palos, following an alarming deterioration in the condition of the area.
The heavy storms and associated stormy seas of the early part of January badly damaged the wall and promenade in the northwest corner of the beach, causing a whole section of the wall to move and sink, pulling away the promenade for a distance of nearly 100 metres.
The works basically consist of the demolition of all the damaged areas and removal of damaged facilities, erection of concrete wall, which involves the excavation and new foundations, construction of new ramp and stairs. Repair of damaged boardwalk area and new sand.
The govt delegate, Rafael Gonzalez Tovar, announced the news following a Ministry meeting in which the funding was approved.
Work is to start immediately.
