This week is the Vuelta a la Region de Murcia with three of the greatest names in cycling taking part in this 30th Edition, - The American cyclist, Lance Armstrong, seven times winner of the Tour de France, Denis Menchov from Russia who won the race last year and top British cyclist, Bradley Wiggins, 4th place in the last Tour de France and captain of Team Sky, with tipsters polling Wiggins as being one of the firm favourites to win this race.
This is the best we can come up with at the moment, as we can't get anything out of Torres de Cotillas , but we should be able to confirm details of the Murcia leg before it happens.
The Vuelta is taking place between the 3rd and 7th March as follows:
3rd March. San Pedro del Pinatar- San Pedro del Pinatar, round leg of 166.5km
The competitors will be assembling from 11.25 in front of the Thalasia Hotel, Avenida del Puerto, with the actual departure of the race taking place at 12.25 frm in front of the gasolinera, petrol station, so if you want to stand a chance of getting a quick autograph, be there by 11.30 latest .
4th March Calasparra-Caravaca de la Cruz 154.3km
Calasparra Autographs- Plaza de la Corredera, 11.40-12.25
Race leaves : Plaza de la Corredera 12.25 with the official start at the Cooperativa del Arroz, at 12.40, leaving the town via the C.3.314 where it turns towards Murcia, then does a big loop back before heading off to Caravaca.
It arrives in Caravaca at 4.20pm in the Gran Via and the athletes are staying over in Caravaca for the night.
5th March Las Torres de Cotillas- Alhama de Murcia, 166.5km
6th March Alhama de Murcia- Alhama de Murcia, sprint leg 22km
Alhama have given the following details;
On Friday the 5th March what's known as the Etapa Reina, the most important leg takes place, coming through the Collado Bermejo and arriving in Alhama at the finishing tape which will be in Avenida Juan Carlos I, at an anticipated time of 4.20pm.
On Saturday 6th, the speed stage takes place in a circular route from Alhama, a distance of 22km, which will leave at 2.15pm from the Rambla de Don Diego up by the Recinto Ferial, will head to Totana and return at 2.40pm in the Avenida Juan Carlos I.
7th March Redyser (Murcia) - Murcia 121.1km
