Murcian regional police clampdown on fraudulent claimsters
Police have denounced the amount of their time being wasted in pointless investigations for crimes which have not been committed.
There has been an upsurge in the numbers of violent robberies reported in recent months which turn out to be nothing more than fraudulent insurance claims, police being called out time and time again to scenes of crime which have very obviously been set-up in an attempt to fool police into writing out an incident report, enabling householders to claim for a robbery which has not taken place.
The main call-outs are for a violent robbery, or armed robbery, as once the police have attended, paperwork exists to back up the claim of theft. As many of us know, simply saying you've been robbed just isn't enough.
Fed-up with the amount of valuable resources being wasted, the Jefatura Superior de Policia de Murcia have instigated 10 actions against people making fraudulent claims, sending out a clear message that wasting police time by faking robberies is considered a crime against Judicial Administration and carries a penalty of between six and twelve months imprisonment, and attempts to defraud insurance companies constitutes theft, which also carries a penal penalty.
