Fiestas Patronales in Balsicas in honour of the Virgen del Rosario

These are very much local fiestas with a mixed programme of activities, music and entertainment for all ages.

There are two virtually all night sessions with DJ´s for the younger generation, as well as a Sevillanas day in which the ladies don those tight frilly dresses, and a Día Huertano, which is when participants wear the traditional costumes of the Murcian countryside and celebrate their rural traditions. There is also a religious parade with the image of the town´s patrona, the Virgen del Rosario. 

Friday 21st October

Midnight : Pregón ( opening speeches.)

Chupinaza and inauguration of the Recinto to be used by the peñas throughout the Fiestas, together with a night of music provided by the group Batucada Pressinto from Alicante.

 

Saturday 22nd October

Youth night

5pm Games organised in the Peñas

9.30pm Performance by the group 1st Linea

10pm Coronation of the Junior and Infant Kings and Queens.

11.30pm The music continues, followed by bread and tomato for all in the Plaza.

1am Performance by the group Kar P Diem  . ( Good, but quite heavy, not for the fainthearted.)

4am DJ Fran Dominguez arrives fresh from the Disco-pub Vatulele in Los Narejos, and the music continues through the night.

6am The arrival of Gua-Gua. Don't ask, no idea. But at that time in the morning, who cares!

 

Sunday 23rd October

Día Rociero

 

7am Collection of the court of honour.

7.30a, Rosario de la Aurora.

12 Midday. Solemn Mass in honour of the Patrona, sung by the Coro Rociero in the Centro Cívico.

12.30 Midday. Display of horses and carriages, with costumed participants wearing their best sevillanas dresses and costumes. Drinks and sandwiches provided for all costumed participants.

2pm Paella making competition

5pm The big local football match, Balsicas Athletico versus C.F. Molina.

6pm Concert in the Festival marquee, with Davide Andreu.

7pm Procession with the Virgen del Rosario, accompanied by the musical Band.

10pm . Humour night in the marquee, with music by Dúo Nerea and a show by Charly ( Spanish).

 

Monday 24th October.

Children´s day

4pm. Fancy dress competition in the marquee, with prizes for all participants.

5pm. Childrens games.

6pm. Display of dance by the Agrupación of Balsicas.

10.30pm Fancy dress competition for all

 

Tuesday 25th October

12 Midday Holy Mass

5pm Children´s activities in the Fiesta Marquee.

10.30pm Competition between the peñas, Mira Quién Baila.

 

Thursday 27th October

5pm Childrens activities in the Fiesta Marquee

6pm Abel Magic presenting the Magic 2011 show.

11pm Sing Star competition between the Peñas.

 

Friday 28th October

Day of the 3rd Age.

10pm Performance in the Fiestas Marquee by Luis Escudero, imitator of Manolo Escobar and the Duo Duetto.

2am Musical entertainment in the Recinto de Peñas. 4.30am. The Dj´s return to dance ´til dawn.

 

Saturday 29th October

10am to 2pm Display of racing cars, in the urban centre.

12.30 Lorry drivers almuerzo ( breakfast.)

4pm Display of remote controlled cars, in the urban centre.

10pm Performances by Maribel and Raul, accompanied by members of the Ballet Embrujo.

Midnight. Night of madness with lazer show and musical performance by Sasión Golfa.

1am Bread and Sobresada is served, followed by a " concentration of DJ´s."

 

Sunday 30th October

Día Huertano.

Time to get on the traditional costume of the countryside.

7.30am Rosario de la Aurora.

10.30am Exhibition and gathering of tractors with t-shirt for every tractor driver who turns up with their tractor.

12 Midday. Misa Huertana in the Fiesta marquee, with floral offering to the patrona. Accompanied by the Coro Huertano.

( A Misa Huertana is a sung mass, but it´s not like a mass in a church, more like a folk concert.)

2.30 Midday Migas making competition

5pm Parade of carriages and floats.

9pm. Dance in the Fiesta marquee with live music from the Dúo Azabache.

10.30pm Prizegiving for the best float

12 Midnight Fireworks to close the Fiestas.

 

Monday 31st October

10pm Grand Fiesta to celebrate Halloween in the Fiesta Marquee with musical performance.
