Water Sports Costa Calida Puerto de Mazarron

We've
been checking out the beaches locally to find the best launching sites,
beaches for specific activities and identifying the best places to find
equipment which will be passing onto you in a series of articles.
We've had a couple of queries about jet ski hire recently, so are passing on the details of a company we found in Mazarron, who specialize in Jet Ski and motor boat hire on an hourly rate.
The boats could be quite good fun for a family or group of friends.
They're Quasar Yamaha13LX boats, 4mtrs long, with a four stroke Yamaha 13.5HP engine, so are not powerful enough to put someone in a dangerous position, but powerful enough to be fun, and easy to drive.
They seat 4 people, so split the cost between 4 and its not too bad for an enjoyable boat trip, working out at 50 euros for an hour, 100 euros for four hours or 150 for the whole day. The only point to note is that the 4 hour and whole day rates do not include fuel, as the owner says that rather than driving to a private beach and enjoying themselves, that hirers have been known to drive non-stop for four hours and it costs him a fortune in fuel!
They also hire jetskis, which seat 2 people at 35 euros for 15 minutes, 65 for half an hour, or 120 for an hour and offer 2 hour excursions to Aguilas and back at 180 per ski.
As anyone who owns one of these will attest, they don't so much drink fuel, as gulp it!
So if you've always wanted to try your hand at the sport of jet ski-ing or just fancy a treat, it could be worth a visit to Mazarron to check it out.
You can call the boys on 629 364 870(Spanish speaking), or they're on the beach all day from about 11 onwards until it gets dark. Saturdays and Sundays are busier for Spanish visitors and they're busier in the evening than daytime.
The boys are down on the beach at Alamillo beach. This is the long thin beach that runs between the roundabout with the boat on , and the lighthouse roundabout, on the main road running out of the Puerto de Mazarron heading towards La Azohia.
We were looking for beaches that could be used for launching small powerboats and jetskis, and were told by locals that this is the best place, as its easy to pull off the road and unload, then park opposite in the urbanization. The beach slopes sharply once below the water line, so is perfect for launching, but if you have a bigger boat, this has to go down to L'Azohia at the far end of the beaches to launch in the port.
