What's on Mar Menor, World Wildlife Fund and ANSE in the Mar Menor
The World Wildlife Fund are visiting the region of Murcia this week in their solar powered boat, WWF Solar, the first alternative energy boat to have ever crossed the atlantic by solar power alone, promoting the use of alternative energy and incentivizing us all to try and live a greener, more ecologically aware existence.

Part of their endeavour is also to support murcian based ecological group ANSE, who are campaigning to raise awareness of regional government plans to permit development on stretches of murcian coastline which currently enjoy protection status.
The boat has been visiting various ports to enable locals to visit and see the technology used and running excursions to raise awareness of just how beautiful the virgin coastline is in this area, but on Sunday it leaves the region.
The World Wildlife Fund are inviting anyone and everyone who owns a sailing boat of any description to join them at 10am on Sunday morning as they depart with a boatload full of media, in an exercise which they hope will catch national media attention, so they need you.
If you own a small sailing boat, any kind of boat powered by the wind, right through from small teaching optimists to full sized yachts, they want you to be there and join in with this initiative, being part of a flotilla of wind powered boats promoting the use of clean energy and pleasure without pollution.
The gathering of boats is taking place at the canal del estacio at 10am on Sunday 25th July, so please pass this on to any sailing friends you have and support this initiative.
