What to do in Murcia- Pilgrimage to Caravaca on foot and on bicycle

The Municipal Institute of sports in Lorca is organizing a pilgrimage to Caravaca de la Cruz on foot or by bicycle over the weekend of the 19th-21st March.

This is not for the fainthearted , as the distance between Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz is 67 km and the accommodation is extremely basic.

Mountain Bike.
On Sunday 21st March the bikes will cycle the full 70km from Lorca to Caravaca in the one day.
The price of the day is 10 euros a head and includes return transportation, and food, so is excellent value for keen cyclists.
Participants must wear helmets and ensure that their bikes are in good enough condition to make the journey.
Be warned- there is a 7am departure.

Pilgrimage on foot, 19th-21st March

19th March Lorca-Zarcilla de Ramos 30km
20th March Zarcilla de Ramos- La Almudema 22km
21st March La Almudema-Caravaca de la Cruz 15km

Cost 75 euros.

Includes
Friday 19th-
Meals in Zarcilla de Ramos
Overnight stop in the social center and school hall of Zarcilla de Ramos- hard floor, sleeping bag (tent optional) and showers in the sports field so no hot water guaranteed!

Sat 20th
Breakfast
Lunch and supper provided. Again, sleeping fairly rough in the school and again, no hot water guaranteed!

Sunday 21st
Breakfast, Pilgrims lunch provided
Showers. (HOT!!!!) Sports pabellon in Caravaca de la Cruz
Visit to the Santuario de la Vera Cruz to participate in the last stage of the Pilgrims walk and pilgrims mass.
Minibus return to Lorca.

And you get a certificate to say you've done it!

Inscriptions need to be completed by the 15th March.
