Centro de Visitantes San Antonio el Pobre, Guided eco-activities

Walk from the santuario de la Fuensanta to the Ermita de San Antonio el Pobre 7th and 14th MarchLa Ruta de los Santuarios

The visitor centre of San Antonio El Pobre is located in the Parque Natural  El Valle , just outside Murcia, and is a centre which focuses on helping residents enjoy the natural beauties of the region.

It runs a series of activities throughout the year, some paid, others involving just a small fee, and this one may be of interest to some .

It was originally scheduled for the 21st Feb, but was cancelled due to the wet weather, and will now take place on the 14th March, so if you want to go along, book it up.

The pick-up point is in the centre of Murcia, at the Glorieta de Espana, which is the big area in front of the Town Hall along the river bank at 9.30am.

It's done this way as many of the participants will be people who live in Murcia and don't own cars.

From here, the coach takes you out to the Santuario de la Fuensanta, which is a beautiful sanctuary with fabulous views.

Once having had a look around the sanctuary, the walk heads off to the Monasterio de la Luz, for a look around the interior.

From there the route continues to the Santuario Ibero de la Luz, then carries on to the Ermita de San Antonio el Pobre.

The actual duration of the walk is 2 hours, and the difficulty level is described as being easy, but you still need to be reasonably fit to undertake it.

Participants are advised to carry a small rucksack with water and a sandwich, suncream, hat and glasses and wear sensible clothing. This area is elevated, amongst the pine trees and although you'll be in the shade of the pine trees most of the time, it's still advisable to take care.

Following the walk, the coach will take you back to Murcia for lunchtime.

The price is 5 euros per person, or 3 for children
