Majal Blanco ecological centre, day courses for families and those interested in the regions ecology

The Aula de Naturaleza del Majal Blanco, Murcia

This is a visitor centre located on the edges of the Regional Park of El Valle and Carrascoy.

Throughout the last 20 years its function has been to teach residents of Murcia about the environment and the abundant flora and fauna of this region. During the week it is used by school groups or groups who have an interest in wildlife or conservation and at weekends runs special days for a wider number of people, both individuals and family groups, who may be interested in the environment.

All of the days are in Spanish, but we're posting this as there are many families with young children growing up in the Spanish system who may enjoy attending these days with their children or adults with some Spanish who may enjoy just being out in the open air and coming along.

 

All the events take place at the Mahal Blanco Centre, on Saturdays between 10am and 5pm and Sundays from 10am-2pm

All the events cost 10 euros, but are free for under 16's and over 65's. On all trips strong, practical shoes and clothing should be worn, and bring a small backpack with water and lunch.

27^th/28^th February.

Técnicas y recursos de supervivencia en la Naturaleza

Techniques and resources for survival in the outdoors, including recognising danger in the wild, recognition of dangerous plants and animals, recognition of edible plants, how to make a fire.

(Own transport to centre) Meet 9.45 in Plaza Moreras, Urbanizacion Torre guil.

 

13^th and 14^th March.

 Botánica práctica: Flora y vegetación de la Región de Murcia.

Practical Botany, Flowers and plants of the Region of Murcia.

The principal purpose of this is to learn to identify the principal plants of the region whilst enjoying a walk through the Parque Regional de El Valle y Carrascoy.

Full day excursion. Departure is from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Murcia on a coach at 9.45am. Please note that the Sunday excursion will not return until 6pm.

 

27^th and 28^th March  and 24^th and 25^th April.

Paseos, juegos y talleres para descubrir el Majal Blanco en familia.

Walks, games and workshops for families to discover the Majal Blanco .

Two weekends of fun for families to come along and enjoy the park with guided activities. Suitable for aged 5 and upwards. Meet 9.45 in Plaza Moreras, Urbanizacion Torre-guil

 

8^th and 9^th May

Geodiversidad y Lugares de Interés Geológico de la Región de Murcia.

Geodiversity and places of geologic interest in the region of Murcia. An explanation of how the region was formed and a walk through the natural park to actually see some of the geological phenomena that exist.

Full day excursion. Departure is from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Murcia on a coach at 9.45am. Please note that the Sunday excursion will not depart until 6pm.

 

Inscription Process

1. Ring and check availability on selected course by calling 968 21 25 18
2. Inscription is free for under 16's or over 65's . everyone else has to pay 10 euros. This is to be paid into Cajamurcia account 2043-0001-26-2081000187 which is the account for Murcia Town hall, indicating name and title of the workshop in which you wish to participate.
3. Send copy of proof of payment by fax to 968 21 41 99 or by email on info@ecopatrimonio.es within 5 day of having made payment.

 

Location

On the morning of the activity participants making their own way to the centre should arrive in the Plaza de las Moreras, Urbanizacion Torreguil for 9.45, from where they will be taken into the natural park by a monitor.

We've been told that once at Torre-guil, it is signposted down to the urbanizacion and that it's easy to find the plaza(!) Leave extra time just in case.
