Walking in Murcia, The Camino Forestal Azbunel
Vista Verde day trails are continuing with their programme of guided day walks throughout Murcia with a Green Route which is to take place on the 27th February and is known as the Camino Forestal Azbunel.
Allison and Paul run these walks to give those who enjoy a real walk the chance to explore different parts of the region in the company of experienced , english speaking guides and to enjoy the dramatic scenery and wide range of walking opportunities which the region has to offer
The route
This route climbs gently through 'Carrasco' pine forest along a forestry road as it wends its' way into the higher mountains of the Sierra Espuna. You will be delighted by the rock formations and dramatic buttresses that appear as you make your way around the hillside.
On the descent you will enjoy equally dramatic scenery as you look down over the Casa de Fuente Alta (house of the High Fountain/Spring) and the Sierra Carrascoy beyond Alhama De Murcia, with its' Moorish castle tower sky lined on the ridge above the town.
As with any of the walks in these mountains, walk quietly and keep your eyes and ears open and you may be surprised by what you will see!
The walk is approximately 5 hrs leisurely walking time.
This walk will start at 10am.
The meeting point for this walk will be on the MU502 Totana - Aledo road. we will then drive a little further to the start point which is off the Tago-Segura Canal
